The process is very simple:
As an Individual you need to:
- Present a valid personal identification (passport, driving license or Sudanese military identification) in addition to the National Number or National Number identity card.
- Fill out a ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) form which will entail all your personal details and will be used by your broker for future trading.
- Fill out a Securities Trading Agreement from which is a contract binding between the client and company.
As a legal entity the following is required:
- Authorization letter given by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) /General Manager of the company to an employee or representative within the entity to be responsible to deal with Sanabel Financial Securities.
- The Authorized employee must present a valid personal identification (passport, driving license or a Sudanese military identification) in addition to the Sudanese National Number or Sudanese National Number identity card.
- Present a Company Incorporation Certificate.
- Fill out a ‘Know Your Customer’ *(KYC) form which will entail all your personal and company’s details and will be used by your broker for future trading.
- Fill out a Securities Trading Agreement from which is a contract binding between the client and Sanabel Financial Securities.
- In case the company is a not operating in Sudan , all the above is applicable in addition to:
Authentication of all the required documents from home country ministry of foreign affairs, Sudanese embassy in the home country, which will further be authenticated from the ministry of Sudanese foreign affairs in Sudan.
- What is the legal age for investing?
The legal age for investing and opening an account is eighteen years old and above.
- Can I still open an Account if I am below age?
Those below the legal age can open accounts through their parents or guardian.
Parents and Guardians must submit legal proof of guardianship.
- When can I start investing?
Once the procedures for opening an account has been finalized and a deposit has been transferred into your Sanabel trading account, you must sign an Authorization form given to you by our Brokers allowing Sanabel Financial Securities to buy and sell on your behalf according to your trading requests. Upon signing this form, Sanabel Financial Securities can then immediately start trading on your behalf, as long as it is within the realm of the trading hours of the day.
- What are the Financial Securities that Sanabel trades in?
The Khartoum Stock Exchange market is divided into two:
- SUKUK:
– Governmental Securities such as Shahama, short term investment maturity of one year.
– Shama, Sarh, Shasha long term investment maturity ranges from 3 years to 7years.
– Non-Governmental Securities such as Mutual Funds.
- Listed Companies’ shares.
- What are Sukuk?
It is the Arabic name for financial certificates, but commonly refers to the Islamic equivalent of bonds. Since fixed income, interest bearing bonds are not permissible in Islam; Sukuk securities are structured in such a way as to generate returns to investors which are Shariaa Compliant. The returns and profits are based on the investment or asset performance.
- What is the difference between a “Suk” and a “Share”?
A Suk is an ‘extra-budget’ financing tool with low-risk on investment while Shares have more of a higher risk in the trading markets. Some Sukuk are temporary and have maturity dates, while shares and stocks are long term investments. Holder of the Suk is funded by the issuing company, therefore Sukuk constitute partial ownership in a debt (Sukuk Murabaha), asset (Sukuk Al Ijara), project (Sukuk Al Istisna), business (Sukuk Al Musharaka), or investment (Sukuk Al Istithmar), whilst a Share-holder is a partner and owner of a common share in the capital of the company.
- What is a Primary Market?
A Primary market is a market that issues new securities in the stock exchange. It is a market where shares are offered to investors by the issuer (government or company) to raise their capital. The sale of this new issue to investors is called an initial public offering (IPO). Sukuks’ in the initial public offering (IPO) are sold in the primary market at their nominal price value of five hundred guineih (500SDG) without any market commissions or stamp tariffs.
- 9- What is a Secondary Market?
The Secondary market is one in which securities are traded after they are initially offered in the primary market. The secondary market consists of all sellers and buyers. It is easier to determine the underlying value of a security in a secondary market, because it has already begun trading. Nearly all trading of a security occurs in the secondary market.
- 10- How often are new Securities (Governmental securities) Shahama?
Sudan Financial Services company is the issuer of Governmental securities. Shahama certificates are issued quarterly.

- What is the minimum amount one can invest when buying Governmental Securities and Funds (SUKUK)?
At time of IPOs 500 SDG is the minimum amount is the offered price for the Suk, which either 500 SDG in case of Shahama, Shama, Shasha and 100 SDG in case of Sarh.
The price of the Suk when listed in the market (the prevailing market price) plus the buying market commission is the minimum amount that can be invested.
- How can I buy Sukuk and Shares from Sanabel Financial Securities?
Sukuk and Shares are bought after depositing the buying amount into your account and upon the Investors request and authorization. Brokers then enter the market during trading hours and finalize your requests accordingly.
- How can I place buying/selling orders?
Buying and selling orders can be easily done, after giving a written authorization and by placing the order via telephone, fax, email, or coming in person to our offices.
- How do I calculate my profit margin when I buy a Suk?
Sudan Financial Services is responsible for repayment of profits for Shahama Certificates. Profits are usually announced 15 days from issue maturity date.
When the investor buys the Suk from the market then the cost of buying is deducted from the actual announced profit to have net profit .
Long term investment Sukuk Sarh, Shama, and Shasha, profits are distributed either quarterly or semi annually.
In case of mutual funds profits distribution depends on the issuing company/bank which could be on monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
- What is a portfolio?
The term portfolio refers to any collection of financial securities such as Sukuk, shares, and cash. Portfolios may be held by individual investors and/or managed by financial professionals, banks and other financial institutions. It is a generally accepted principle that a portfolio is designed according to the investor’s risk appetite and tolerance, time frame and investment objectives.
- What are the commissions charged when buying/selling financial securities?
Buying and selling commissions are charged as per Khartoum Stock Exchange market law. The commission is divided between KSE and Sanabel

- What if I am out of the country?
If the investor wants to deal with us in person we may communicate with him by email, telephone, Fax or through our website.
Or he/she may authorize someone by legal power of Attorney to deal with us on his behalf.
- If am not a Sudanese am I allowed to invest in financial securities in Sudan.
KSE law allows non-Sudanese citizen to invest in the Khartoum Stock Exchange as long as they have necessary legal documentation of their identification.
- When can I withdraw my funds?
Investors can withdraw their money at any time.
20.How can I withdraw my funds?
Upon a notice from the investor, the company will issue a cheque for the investor with the amount specified, or hand-over the certificates owned by the investor.
- How do I close my account?
You may close your account by simply requesting to do so and to withdraw all your funds and certificates.
- How do I manage my account?
Currently, your account will be managed by our account managers who will keep you informed by sending you buy/sell order via sms, email or phone. Our Brokers and staff will send you periodical reports and statements to keep you updated with the markets activity as well as your account status upon client request.
- On what days and hours is the market open in?
The Khartoum Stock Exchange trading hours are 10:00 am to 11.30am, Sunday through Thursday.
- What is the trading currency?
Currently all the market activity is traded with Sudanese pound – SDG.
- What is the par value?
The par value is the nominal value of a security which is determined by the issuing company to be its minimum price at its initial offering.
